The Gujarat government proposed by the cureent honarable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a legislative framework for the formation of a Special Investment Region Act 2009.
India will soon have its 1st smart & futuristic city in Gujarat! The proposed Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) which will be bigger than Singapore in size with world-class facilities, says an FE report. Dholera SIR was notified under the National Investment & Manufacturing Zone policy (NIMZ). There are seven nodes developed under Phase-I of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). Dholera SIR is one in all the primary and therefore the biggest of those nodes. The project was given in 2014.
Dholera is a proposed greenfield industrial city. The planned city is located around 100 km away from Ahmedabad of Gujarat. Dholera city will span across 920 sq km & has 22 villages. Actually, The city will be bigger than the city of Ahmedabad Region. Dholera is strategically located between the 3 prominent industrial cities of Gujarat- Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Broda & Bhavnagar region.
Dholera will connect Gujarat capital through a 6-lane expressway and there are plans to develop a metro rail network for seamless connectivity. The greenfield industrial city will also have an international airport too. The construction work for the airport has already started. DIACL (Dholera International Airport Company Limited) is also building the airport for Dholera SIR.
Dholera, will have its own self-sustaining eco-system and the city’s economic growth will be driven by many industries, utility, logistics infrastructure & also with basic amenities like education, healthcare etc.
Job opportunities: By 2030 Dholera is expected to be fully developed and will be a futuristic world-class destination. Dholera smart city won't only provide thrust to the country’s industrial output but also will create quite 8 lakh jobs.
The Gujarat government headed by the indian honorable Prime minister Narendra Modi created a legislative framework for the formation of a SIR(Special Investment Region) Act 2009. Under the act, a regional development authority for DSIR has been established.
A SVP (Special Purpose Vehicle) also has been created with the Central government having 49% stake & state government had 51% in Dholera.
DICDL (Dholera Industrial City Development Limited) was formed with the initial authorized capital of INR Rs 6,000 crore appox. The DMIC trust has already approved the activation trunk infrastructure project on INR Rs 4,400 crore too.
